What do you learn during our Kickboxing & Muay Thai classes?

Our Dutch-style Kickboxing and Muay Thai classes are the bread and butter of any athlete that wants to have a strong striking game. You will learn all the things you need to know whether you want to use it for Kickboxing, Muay Thai or even MMA:
Proper warm-up and stretching
Footwork and movement to punch
Having a complete defense
Throw, defend and counter basic and advanced combinations
More advanced techniques involving knees, clinch and unorthodox combinations
Drilling the basics until they become instinctive
Sparring according to your level

What you need to join our Dutch-style Kickboxing / Muay Thai classes

The drills involve striking movements. You will need to be agile. Therefore join us with a comfortable sports outfit that doesn't restrict movements.

You can borrow at the gym the main equipment required for the lessons:
Boxing gloves for Rp25.000,-
Shin pads for Rp20.000,-
Hand wraps for Rp10.000,-
To maintain good hygiene routine and practice safely, we recommend you to at least purchase a mouthguard and your own hand wraps if you intend to join our Kickboxing lessons on a regular basis.

Price to join our Kickboxing lessons

If you are not a member, you can join us for a trial or drop-in. If after your trial you are convinced that Kickboxing is for you and decide to take a monthly membership, we pay you back your trial. This offer is only valid on the same day, directly after the session.

Kickboxing / Muay Thai classes are available for all Regular and Unlimited Mejiro members.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What level do I need to join the usual Kickboxing K1 & Muay Thai class?

Any level is welcome. However, these lessons are a bit more advanced and more intense than our beginners/fundamental lessons.

Is there any sparring in the Kickboxing class?

Yes, a class typically ends with 3 rounds of 3 minutes of sparring. The focus of the sparring is to apply what you previously learnt during the rest of the lesson, not to apply power. So don’t worry if it’s your first time, people will go easy on you.

Are there a lot of accidents and injuries during the Kickboxing / Muay Thai class?

Injuries are very rare during our lessons. 80% of the lesson consists of drilling, so you will always know where the hits are coming from and can prepare accordingly for them. Light injuries can sometimes happen, usually on the legs due to blocking, but you should be back on your feet very fast.

What is the minimum age to join the K1 / Muay thai class?

Kids and teenagers can join us when they are 12 years old or above. If your child is below 12 years old, he / she is welcome in our kids class.
